Brass Nasal Shielding - X-Large (15mm dia.)
Brass Nasal Shielding - X-Large (15mm dia.)
This brass shielding instrument is intended to be inserted into the front part of the nasal cavity to prevent radiation from penetrating parts of the nasal area.
Features
Brass Nasal Shielding is to be used as a form of radiation shielding internally in the nasal cavity when treating the nose area. The physician is to decide whether this device is appropriate for use in the patient’s treatment plan. Some uses may include blocking of sensitive areas around the nose including nasal mucosa, septal cartilage, olfactory bulb, nasalacrimal duct, maxillary sinus, hard plate, and teeth roots.
Our Nasal Bolus can be used as a CT/MR safe dummy version of these devices for CT alignment and treatment planning. Surgical tape or other hypoallergenic may be instructed to use by the physician if deemed necessary to keep the shields from exiting the nasal cavity. Two nasal shields are to be inserted in both nostrils if deemed necessary by the physician. Special care should be conducted to ensure the patient is breathing regularly through their mouth. If backscatter is a concern at necessary energy level, the shield may be coated with wax.
Caution:
Do NOT insert a size that is too small.
Do NOT exceed 120kV
Do NOT use with a patient that has a brass allergy or history of skin reactions when in contact with brass metal.
