Acrylic Beam Spoiler, 1/2" Thick, for Fixed Total Body Irradiation (TBI) Stands
Beam spoilers are primarily used in radiation therapy to alter a high-energy radiation beam before it reaches the patient by increasing the surface dose by generating lower-energy secondary electrons in the beam path. This reduces the usual “skin-sparing” effect of high-energy photon beams, which is useful when the treatment target includes the skin or near-surface tissue, such as in total body irradiation or some head/neck and breast treatments.
This device is intended to work with the RPD fixed position TBI stands. The beam spoiler is attached directly to the TBI with its integrated beam spoiler hangers. While not intended, this device is also compatible with our RPD Beam Spoiler Frame for TBI, so the beam spoiler can be used and moved independently of the TBI stand. Use of the Short Width, Top & Bottom Bars (Item # 495-010) shortens the width of the frame considerably.
